Decor Celtic

For over four thousand years, Irish goldsmiths were the creation of Celtic jewelry in gold and silver and other precious metals. Irish decorative jewelry examples date from the Bronze Age, some four thousand years. Many of these jewels were likely functional and decorative elements formed to everyday items such as clothes pins and clips, weapons and dining and cooking utensils. Celtic ironwork formed the basis for most works of this period. Prized by men and women, Celtic jewelry is a treasure among possessions because of its uniqueness in beauty and symbolism.

Silver and gold were used by Celtic craftsmen between 2000 BC to 550 AD silver to make jewelry Celtic pending. Symbols Celtic are inevitably subject to the Celtic craft jewelry, and manifest in the final products as shown by modern examples.

Ornate, symbolic, and enchanting, Celtic jewelry was (and still is) very coveted. In fact, Celtic jewelry such as rings, bracelets, pendants, and pins are so sought after for their beauty and style that Celtic jewelry trade across the Mediterranean has been very successful.

Celtic Cross

When one thinks of Celtic jewelry, Celtic cross may come to mind first. The Celtic cross had its start in the British Isles, appearing mostly in Ireland. This Celtic symbol has long represented the bridge or passage between heaven and earth. The four arms may also be connotative of four elements: fire, earth, air, water.

The ring in the center of the Celtic cross is a symbol Celtic infinite love, more precisely, the endlessness of God's love. The central ring may also represent a halo emanating of Christ. Given the power represented in this Celtic symbol, it is easy to see why Celtic jewelry manufacturers have been so devoted to the Virgin perfection in the development of the Celtic cross. This symbol represents the highest ideals and aspirations of the Celts, and this piece of Celtic jewelry is one of the most timeless.

The Claddagh

Another timeless piece of Celtic jewelry is the Claddagh ring.

Claddagh (pronounced Klada) is an ancient village just outside the city of Galway in Ireland. While the Celtic Tiger has left its ugly mark on the village still retains much of its original charm

The Claddagh ring, originated by Richard Joyce. Captured and taken to her home, Joyce was held in slavery in the Caribbean. Finally, it was sold to a Moorish goldsmith, where Joyce learned the art of jewelry making. Joyce eventually gained his freedom, and thereby returned to Ireland and settled in the fishing village of Claddagh. There he continued his practice through the creation silversmith jewelry Celtic.

He produced the ring Claddagh to celebrate his return home and be a symbol for his love of parents and country. As seen today, the Claddagh has become very popular as a sign of engagement and friendship and love.
