quarter horse?

They offered me a Palomino Quarter Horse gelding 10 years old, I never watch a horse before and I wonder what good qualities of a quarter horse. Answerer would apprecitated =] thank you

Quarter horses are amazing! I raised one from a colt when I was 14 years, and it was nice to me every step of the way, even during the "terrible two" of the break. What I like race is that the outbreak sprint! A quarter horse (if in good condition) can reproduce faster than almost any other in a short race. (Hence name – a quarter of a mile is the length of their endurance .. Well, these beautiful areas and Hind!;)) They are incredibly sure-footed, will and may Trail Ride for hours. Quarter Horses tend to be friendly with other animals and people, and are very versatile in the saddle. I used mine both as a horse trail and hunter bell, and it performs quite well in English, Western and Australian saddles. As for buying a horse, I think the most important things to check in Palomino are the basics. Ride him, see if you like his demeanor. If you are looking for a dressage horse or endurance serious you may want to look elsewhere – because the quarter horse is neither large nor as Warmbloods as fit for long, full throttle, shamelessly turns Gallop as Arabs. Three are good for breeding, cornering and providing bursts of speed mixed with long, endurance least demanding. They can run all day. Talk, see if the jog / trot / canter are to your taste, especially when you think the horse in disciplines mostly English or Western. Make sure he chooses his feet up for you (the blacksmith) and see how he responds to your bearings. Perhaps bareback too. What I learned about shift work on a farm is that they hesitate not to break old habits and relearn what you ask of them. (Not quite as fast as the Arabs, but they are behind). Then I'd just say check his overall health and behavior. See if both of you "click" on and off the saddle. Bon Voyage and good luck!
