The farmers are not the only ones who have knowledge of different breeds of horses. Many horse lovers do, too. The history of livestock horse and the characteristics of different races are interesting learning that can give you a better understanding of these magnificent creatures.
History of Horses
Consider first how the relationship between humans and horses has evolved, as this will help us better understand different breeds of horses. Believe it or not, horses first became valuable to humans because they produced milk and can be eaten. Later However, the man realized that horses were strong and fast and began to use them to carry or draw loads and as a mode of transport.
Now the horses are not only used to do labors. Rather, they are usually kept for sports and horse riding leisure. Thus, people are raising horses to serve the various needs of human beings.
Breeding horses
What the breeder do is to select specific male and female horses with the desired characteristics to mate, so that new horses born to carry the traits desired by us humans. With the success of purposeful breeding, more horses are now bred in planned ways to meet specific needs. A known example is the horse race. In fact, there are different registries around the world that document the different breeds horses.
To know the different breeds of horses is probably a difficult task for the average person, but a true horse lover can usually tell much of the race. This is especially true for someone who loves racing horses or just wants to get a horse. Often, knowing the race your horse, you say that the horse is capable of doing and if the price is really justified.
Horse Species
Despite the large number of breeds horses, horses are generally placed in three main groups – pony, light and heavy horses.
The smallest kind of horses are known of us as ponies. Because they are so small, some might even consider not horses at all. Even so, the ponies can be as robust as other horses. Some breeds can carry adult riders and pull heavy loads. Because of their size and mild nature, ponies are often kept as pets company by children. Next to the ponies are the light horse. Some breeds in this group are Arabian beautiful and the thoroughbreds fast. Other breeds are Quarter Horse, Appaloosa and Morgan. These horses are primarily designed to be mounted on fun or for sport. In the past they have been popularly used to make lighter cars, trucks, cars and chairs.
Some Horses are part of the heavy group. In the past, these horses were used for war. They have also been used for transport and pulling heavy loads. Heavy horses are ideal for farming. They are large, but well-formed, powerful muscles, shoulders and legs. Breeds of heavy horses include Shire, Clydesdale, Percheron and Lipizzaner.
Keep in mind that even within the same group, different breeds of horses can carry very different features. Therefore, it is always important to understand what differentiates your race horses from the rest.
