American Quarter

The American Quarter Horse is the first breed of horse native to the United States. The breed evolved when the bloodlines of horses brought to the New World were mixed. American Quarter Horse Foundation Stock from Arab, Turk and Barb breeds. Selection of stallions and mares were crossed with horses brought to Colonial America from England and Ireland in the 1600s. This combination resulted in a compact, very muscled horse that evolved to fill the colonists passion for short distance races.

The incredible power behind a horse quarter led to this huge animal to run short distances on a straight line faster than any other horse with the fastest being named Celebrated American Running Horse. The names for this race has changed several years until 1940, when a record was created to preserve the breed which officially became the American Quarter Horse Association.

In the year 1674 in Enrico County, Virginia the first American Quarter Horse Race was held. They were face-to-one match races in the village streets, alleys and county level pastures. Many disagreements and Fighting has been generated from heavy betting on races large purse in 1690.

The American Quarter Horse, because of their calm temperament and quick response time, the horse became known for its "cow sense" to be able to thwart cattle. During the years 1800, the pioneer of many folk moved to the west, like the American Quarter Horse. An abundant breeding cattle ranged across the plains. Making this breed well suited for livestock.

In today's world, the American Quarter Horse is still a great sprinter known for their strong muscles, but they passed the horses passed the cattle. These amazing horses in competition almost all disciplines available, from rodeos, such as barrel racing calf roping and disciplines such as English dressage and jumping. Breeders, since the creation of the race more than fifty years ago, have been diligently trying to perfect the great tradition of producing an animal versatile high quality .. Guidelines strict were set by the American Quarter Horse Association regarding the registration of American Quarter Horses. Some of these guidelines include:
1. Limited white markings on face and below the knee
2. Only thirteen colors accepted and recognized by the AQHA. He is sorrel (brown reddish), bay, black, brown, buckskin, brown, fawn, red fawn, gray, grullo, palomino, red roan and blue roan. The official gray color is what most people call white, but there is no "white" American Quarter Horses.
3. A Quarter Horse foal must be the product of an American defense numbered and numbered Quarter Horse American Quarter Horse sire. There is a register appendiz foals with a parent numbered American Quarter Horse and Throughbred parent registered with the Jockey Club.

Some other notable features of the American Quarter Horse is their speed, versatility, nature soft, heavy musculature and his keen sense of the cow.
